The Fragile States Facility (FSF) is an operationally autonomous entity within the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group. The FSF is a special initiative of the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Development Fund (ADF).

Government projects with commitment to consolidate peace and security.

Objectives and activities

Objective: Its objective is to provide supplemental support so as to more effectively assist states emerging from conflict or crisis.

Activities:  It seeks to support eligible states in consolidating peace, stabilizing their economies, and laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth. The Supplemental Support Pillar seeks to provide eligible post-conflict or transitional countries with financing in addition to the ADF country allocation. These resources support governance, human and institutional capacity building, and the rehabilitation and reconstruction of basic (tourism) infrastructure.

Type and level of funding

2014-2016: a projection of UA 1,500 million1. Financial assistance is provided in the form of grants and technical assistance.
