The fifth UNWTO & World Travel Market (WTM) Ministers’ Summit has said that the social and economic benefits of tourism could be strengthened if governments collaborated more closely with each other and the private sector over visas, taxation, aviation agreements and marketing (London, United Kingdom, 8 November 2011).
11 November 2011 US travelers set to return to Europe – new UNWTO/ETC report
Despite the downward revision of the countries’ economic growth forecast, US tour operators predict US travelers will return to Europe in growing numbers. This is the main finding of a new World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)/European Travel Commission (ETC) report on US outbound travel presented at the World Travel Market with the support of the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA) (London, UK, 8 November 2011).

30 August 2011 Online toolkit set to help hotels reduce energy footprint and costs
Following three years of testing and extensive research, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and its partners have launched an online tool to help hotels evaluate their energy consumption and assist in improving their energy management and cutting costs. 
22 August 2011 UNWTO and SNV partner to advance tourism training for the informal sector in developing countries
Capacity building and knowledge transfer are at the center of competitive destinations and sustainable development efforts. A new project, High Impact Tourism Training (HITT), implemented by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation with support from UNWTO, will provide training to 8.000 tourism workers and entrepreneurs from the informal sector in seven developing countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
